The Fabulous life of K.Wilson part -13 – Issues (Completed!)

LL- Thanks for waiting everybody! All done!

Kay rolled out of bed when the alarm clock went off the next morning; it was 06.00 but she’d already been up for half an hour before that. It was hard sleeping when some crazed bitch had just attacked her man in broad daylight the day before. She turned to look at Jack in her bed; no doubt he had to be at work too, so Kay quickly hit the shower.

As the water splashed over her body, her thoughts turned to the force of nature that was Almira Al Aziz. The woman had the gall to smash a wine glass in Jack’s face in public; she could only imagine what horrors he had faced while trapped in a marriage with such a person. It hurt Kay a little that Jack wasn’t prepared to talk about it, but she guessed that he needed a little time; maybe he would learn to trust her with his deep feelings as their relationship grew.

Once Kay was done she woke Jack and stroked his face gently; as he came to, she fingered the ugly cut mark and felt tears burn the back of her eyes.

“Baby…are you crying?” Jack asked concerned. He rubbed his eyes to make sure that he wasn’t seeing things.

“No, I’m fine. I’m just still mad about yesterday. I mean who does she think she is doing that to you in front of everyone…I swear if I ever catch her in the street again….”

“Kay, please don’t waste your tears on her; Almira isn’t worth your energy. Its okay I will deal with her. Don’t forget she’s the mother of my kids…she has to accept this situation,” he explained. “Anyway, she’s married and is almost on the verge of losing her husband. She has other things to deal with than me…or us.”

He held her hand and squeezed it for a few seconds to reassure her; Kay sighed and then relented, whatever was wrong she knew Jack would take care of it. She believed him because he was just that kind of man.

“Okay Jack, I’ll back down. For you…I’ll let it go.”

****

Kay walked into the office and confirmed what Preston already knew she would say; JMC were fools if they thought that she would sell out.

“All bets are off. Tell JMC I decline their little merger idea. I don’t know who the hell they think I am,” she raged.

Kay paced up and down looking agitated which wasn’t normal. Preston raised an eyebrow at this, but decided he was going to keep his mouth shut for the time being.

“I thought as much.” he replied. “Okay, I’ll let them know later his afternoon.”

“Anymore business?”

“Nope, I’m done….”

****

“His ex-wife did what?” asked Troy in disbelief.

“Yes, she did and even messed my favourite Armani dress while she was at it. But I got the handle on her Hermès bag though. That probably cost 100 times more than my dress!” she chuckled.

“It’s not funny mama; damn poor Jack! How is he taking it?”

“He’ll be okay. He got a small cut that’s all…but I’ve met some of his kids now. His two youngest are twin boys; Horace and Jacob, they’re 15. I bet you’d like em….”

“Oh what is this now; get to know the family before announcing the wedding?” Troy teased. “Come on mama, your secret is safe with me. I won’t tell nobody….”

“Shut up boy!” she warned jestfully. “But on another note, what’s that message you left me about your father? What’s Frank up to now…?”

“Mama, one of the most stupid things he could have done.” Troy said shaking his head. “My father went and left my address as insurance to some thug bookies and bet on last week’s ball game. He lost of course and now they want $20,000.”

“$20,000? But your place isn’t in his name…they can’t get any money….”

“Yeah, they found out and decided to give him a warning by almost breaking his legs. He used his last $10 to get a taxi to my place and explained once I dragged him in. That was last weekend. Anyway, that’s when he asked me to get the money from you….”

“And what did you say?” Kay asked sternly.

“I told him that it was his mess and he needed to ask you himself.”

“Good boy. But he hasn’t called me yet,”

“Well he better call you before they get back to him and do it for real this time….”

“Honestly Troy, that man….”

“You don’t have to tell me mama. I know….I know.”

****

Frank took a swig of Scotch before dialling her number; after the way he’d spoken to Kay last time, he figured that she might just cut the line on him. It burned him to have to ask her for help, but he had no choice. One of his boys had heard on the grapevine that Acid and his crew were gonna show up for the dough in a week’s time. He only hoped that Kay wasn’t hard enough to let a bunch of loan sharks smash his leg bones.

“Kay?” he asked carefully after been put through to her office.

“Speaking…is that you Frank?” said Kay.

“Yeah it’s me.” he confirmed. “Good to hear your voice….”

“Oh yeah? Well I haven’t heard that from you in a long ass time. So what’s up?”

“Well I guess Troy told you about my little situation? About the minor bit of trouble I got myself in.”

Kay sighed to herself; she wasn’t gonna let him get off easy. Frank wasn’t even prepared to admit that he’d got himself into a whole load of shit and fully expected her to bail him out. Kay decided to feign ignorance until he let his pride down.

“Not really Frank. But maybe we should discuss whatever it is in person. I’m only free from now until 3.30pm, so it gives you what, an hour with me if you leave home now.”

“You want me to come over to your office building?”

“Where else are we going to talk? I’m busy taking other calls so I can’t just up and leave the office everytime you have some kind of problem,”

“Fine. I’ll be there in 15.”

****

The last time Frank had seen Kay’s office was ten years prior when she’d just started and only had two rooms on one of the floors. Now K-Maxx occupied five floors in the very same building and Kay’s office was on the 59th floor.

He wondered how many dicks she’d sucked to get that lucky as the elevator pinged and opened at his destination. Frank had changed out of his work jeans and had worn an old too-tight shirt and red tie. He also wore some old black slacks and his church shoes in an effort to look half-decent.

Melanie was shocked to see what her bosses’ ex looked like. It was as if he was a tasteless throwback from the nineties in his shiny white shirt; she couldn’t believe what Kay had seen in him in the first place. She figured that he must have been a looker back in the day and quickly buzzed him into Kay’s office before he caught her starting.

Kay swivelled her Eames chair around to face Frank as he stepped into her vast office; if he ever needed a reminder of how far she had come, then it was at that moment. She gestured for him to sit down on one of the luxurious leather seats at her desk. He felt like he was going for a job interview or something and cleared his throat before he spoke.

“Hi Frank…you didn’t need to get dressed on my account you know,” Kay said.

“Well I figured since I was coming into the Sears Tower, I didn’t wanna look like some bum.” He replied and cleared his throat again.

“Can I get you a drink? Some water perhaps?”

“Aight…or juice if you got it….”

“No problem,” said Kay and called Melanie from her desk phone. “Melanie, could I please get some fruit juice, water and two glasses? Yeah fine, some of that Tropicana fruit punch will be great. Thanks Melanie.”

It wasn’t until after Frank had gulped down half a pitcher of juice that he finally began to explain his situation.

“Well it’s like this Kay. I had a sure fire bet on the Bulls two weeks ago…so I put Troy’s place down as security. I know it wasn’t the best move…but it was a sure bet.”

“Frank, nothing is ever a sure bet, you know that. What the hell were you thinking!” Kay snapped. “You put our son’s life in danger to feed your gambling habit; honestly, I don’t know what the hell possessed you to do that. I bought that place for Troy so he would have something…so he would have a better start than we did. I can’t believe you almost threw that away!”

“Okay, okay, I don’t need the lecture! You know I wouldn’t come over asking for help unless it was that bad! Look, these bastards said they gonna break my legs for real this time if I don’t come up with the dough by Friday. And after that…they're gonna go after Troy if they don’t get nuthin,” Frank said desperately. “Come on Kay, you gotta help me…and I know you got the money….”

“So what about next time…and the next time and the time after that?” asked Kay. “Cos you’re not gonna sit here and tell me that you’ve quit gambling. I told you that you need help.”

“I don’t need no help. I’m gonna stop, I promise…just help me out this one time.”

“Frank, I can’t remember the amount of times I’ve helped you so cut the crap. Alright Frank, I’ll help you out on two conditions; first, ask the people you owe the money to give you an address. These people usually have a kind of business as a front….”

“They got a barber-shop,”

“Okay, I will have a courier deliver the money to them on your behalf first thing Friday morning. Just give me the details and it will be arranged. Second; you have to sign up for Gamblers Anonymous and complete the program. I’ll pay for it of course, you just have to show up one or two nights a week to….”

“Hell no! I ain’t going to no damn gamblers rehab! I told you this is it! Just pay those motherfuckas and it’ll be over!” Frank barked.

Kay simply looked at him and shook her head. This was the same man that needed help and the idiot was trying to call the shots. In her office. She didn’t want to have to do it, but it was time to let him know who the boss in the equation was.

Kay took a document out from a folder on her desk; she’d asked her attorney to prepare it as soon as Troy had told her of the news. If she was going to help Frank, it would need to be legally binding.

“Look Frank, this is how it’s gonna go so you can take it or leave it. This document says that in exchange for me paying off your debt, you will attend Gamblers Anonymous for approximately 12 weeks after which you will be assessed to determine whether you need more time to be weaned off this addition of yours. Those are my terms….sign and you won’t need to look over your shoulder again. But walk out of this office without this agreement and I will tear it up. I won’t offer this to you again. I will take care of Troy; I can even move him to another place if I have to. But you, you’re on your own.”

She leaned back into her chair and folded her arms for emphasis. Kay meant every word that she’d said and he would be a fool to refuse. But then again, wasn’t him being a fool the reason he was there in the first place.
Before he had a chance to answer, Melanie knocked and walked into the room unexpectedly.

“Melanie I said I didn’t want to be disturbed,” Kay snapped.

“Sorry Kay; Mr Benjamin-Ames is out in the lobby and he’d like to see you urgently.”

Kay bit her bottom lip and instantly felt bad for taking our some of her frustration on her dutiful secretary.

“Okay Melanie, let him in.”

Jack walked in and Frank swivelled in his chair to look at him. He wasn’t to know that this was Kay’s significant other. As far as Frank knew, Kay had not had another serious man in her life since him and as he watched Jack embrace his ex, he felt a tinge of jealousy. Kay was still a beautiful woman and this was one of the few times that Frank regretted being so hasty to replace her when Troy was just a baby.

“Jack…I’m sorry, I’m in the middle of something.” Kay explained. “Can you give me about five minutes, this won’t take long.”

“Of course Kay; sorry I dropped by unannounced, but I was in the neighborhood and…” he began and then noticed Frank staring at him quite hard. “Kay, aren’t you going to introduce me to your friend?” Jack asked.

“Oh, I’m sorry. Where are my manners?” Kay replied. “Jack, this is my son’s Father, Frank…and Frank, this is my boyfriend Jack.”

“Your boyfriend huh?” asked Frank.

“Yes…do I detect a problem with that Frank?” said Kay.

“Nah…no problem.” Frank said stiffly. He wasn’t going to bother with the formality of shaking hands. Jack looked to him like a smug bastard anyway; walking in like he owns the place, wearing probably a thousand dollar suit, Frank cursed to himself.

Jack diplomatically made his way to the door, but not before planting a victorious kiss on Kay’s cheek.

“It’s okay baby, I’ll wait for you outside. I’ve got an hour before my next meeting anyway and I just wanted to give you a lil something that I picked up for you today.” Jack said. “Pleased to meet you Frank….”

“Aight,” Frank replied and watched Jack swagger out of the office in a way that he could only dream of.

“So you got you a tomboy huh?” asked Frank.

“Signing this or not?” Kay replied fuming. She wasn’t surprised as he put his name on the dotted line. Even an idiot like Frank knew when his luck had run out.

“The GA meetings will start next week and they will let me know if you don’t show up, even once. That breaches the contract and you’ll be back to square one. If that happens, I will never give a dime to help you ever again.”

“Yeah I heard ya,” Frank replied and stormed out taking his cloud of negativity with him. Kay sighed again in exasperation. The bastard didn’t even say thank you. As the thought left her mind, Jack walked in.

“I realised you don’t have a pair of diamond stud earrings in your jewelry box,” he said.

“You checked my jewelry box?” she replied.

“Well I don’t want to buy you anything you already have,” Jack explained. “Anyway, so I was driving past Tiffany and thought, since we’re official now, it’s my duty to remedy that situation.”

He took the distinctive duck-egg blue box out of his pocket and it had a tiny white ribbon around it. “Open it,” he said.

Kay untied the ribbon and opened the small box; the sparkle from the diamonds dazzled her eyes and she couldn’t contain her happiness.

“They’re beautiful Jack, I love them. Simple and just perfect!”

“Let me help you put them on….”

The large diamond studs suited her just as he imagined they would; they were eight carats in total and worth every penny.
“Oh Jack, you didn’t need to get these for me honey. You’re spoiling me…it’s not like it’s my birthday or anything.”

“Kay…this is me being my self so you’d better get used to it and if I don’t spoil you, who will?” he said. “Look, I know you’re not used to this kind of thing, but you need to relax and let me treat you like a lady…can you do that for me?”

“Of course I can baby…anything for you,”

Melanie was about to walk in to let Kay know that her next meeting’s guest was in the lobby, when she stumbled on them engaged in a kiss. She went back into the waiting area with an epic sized grin stuck to her face.

“Urm, Mr Wallace, Miss Wilson’s last meeting is just running over by a few minutes….can I get you some coffee while you’re waiting?”

*****

“So what did you find?” she demanded more than asked.

“A few things that might interest you. I have a number for a Mr Jim Templeton that happens to work in the same company as your ex-husband. His number came up in her itemized phone records a few times in the past few months so I was able to find out that they were coming from his office.” said Sam.

“Did you speak to Jim?” Almira asked.

“Yes, he couldn’t have been more helpful, but he wants to see you in person.”

“Arrange it.”

The line was cut off.

*****

“Holy shit!” Jim squealed. “Yeah, that’s good…just like that! Suck it hard…oh God!”

Almira had her own special way of extracting information when threats were not necessary. Jim Templeton had proven to be very pliable indeed; he’d told her that the seemingly straight-laced Miss Wilson was actually, an active dominatrix. In fact he used to be one of her “slaves” until she’d cut him loose. Jim didn’t tell Almira why Kay had rejected him, but she didn’t care to know anyway. All that mattered was the smear campaign that was about to be implemented.

Jim writhed in his office chair and stroked the beautiful Arab woman’s hair; he didn’t even remember her name really, he just knew that she had one of the best sucking-off techniques he’d ever had in his life. Luckily, his secretary was discreet and knew not to let anyone in the office once he’s shut the door. Or so he thought.

“Yes, yes baby! Yes Al….” Jim’s mind just couldn’t recall the rest of it. He was about to come and all he needed after this was a few lines of coke. That would top off what was beginning to be a wonderful afternoon.

“It’s Almira and don’t ever forget it you scum,” she said. Jim smiled to himself, it was even better that she had a domineering streak; it would make him come even harder in any case.

“I won’t forget it again Almira…oh my God you ruthless bitch! I’m coming…I’m….”

Just as Jim was going over the edge; his ecstasy turned to horror as his daughter walked into his office. Of course his secretary wouldn’t know not to let his kid in; Genevieve Templeton’s eyes widened as she saw a vision of her father that no child should ever see of their parent. Not that she should be surprised; her dad was a scumbag at best, but Genny was sure there was a rule against hookers being allowed on the premises.

“Genny!” Jim barked. “Don’t just stand there! Get the hell out!”

“Don’t worry dad! I wasn’t staying anyway,” she retorted and slammed the door to leave.

As soon at the door was shut, Almira spat Jim’s heady spunk into the waste paper basket as an unconventional gift for the janitor and got off her knees.

“Who the fuck was that?” she questioned. “Don’t they knock in this building?”

“That was my eldest daughter Genevieve. She’s an intern here…she’s working for my boss Mr Benjamin-Ames.” He explained. “Shit! I just hope she don’t open her big mouth and blab to him that I had a woman in my office…she was always more like her mother.”

“Jack is your boss?” Almira asked.

“Yeah, don’t tell me you know that bastard.”

“He’s my ex-husband actually….”

“Your ex….” The color subsequently drained from Jim’s face when he realised what had just happened. “Oh my God. My boss’s ex-wife just gave me a blow-job. Oh shit, now I’m really fucked!”

“No Jim, you’re not…well as long as you keep me happy that is. I’ll handle Jack, just make sure you give me the scoop on Kay. Everything you know.”

“Why do you wanna know anyway...what she do to you?”

“She took something of mine that wasn’t hers to take; Miss Wilson’s actions have given me no choice but to retaliate.”

“A word of warning though. Kay is like a pit-bull; if you wanna spar with her, you better be ready…”

“Mr Templeton, nobody is unbeatable as long as they are mortal. Everybody has a weakness…even a pit-bull has a nemesis. Even a pit-bull.”

Genny was still sitting outside her father’s office waiting as Almira walked out; the two women made fleeting eye contact, but the coldness in Almira’s eyes made Genny’s skin crawl. Whatever that woman was doing with her father, she was sure it was bad news; no doubt, the truth would surface in the end. It was only a matter of time.
